The Life, Joy and Artwork of ULULANI...

Born and raised in Detroit, Michigan, I always enjoyed using color and being creative. Each year at Christmas I depicted holiday scenes on windows and displays for the local schools, churches and residences. These original paintings were recognized with accolades, then published for many years in the Detroit News. I attended a Technical High School and majored in Commercial Art and Fashion Illustration. Even at a young age my artwork continued to earn me honors and awards, including a Gold Key issued by the Scholastic Art Awards. Again, my accomplishments were a feature story in the Sunday Detroit News.

Later in life, priorities had changed and my artwork was put "on the shelf" so I could devote my work, earnings, love and attention to my children, whom I was raising as a single parent.

I moved to Hawaii in 1993. Here, I am blessed with part time employment and the desire to continue painting. Since 2000 I am inspired once again to share God's beautiful world through my paint brush. I have chosen as my Hawaiian name "Ululani" which means "Heavenly Inspiration".

My paintings are created in the Acrylic medium and include scenery, florals and Hawaiian themes.

One of my loves in life is cats! Their faces hold great beauty, their eyes hold such mystery. I love to paint the heads of big cats.
